Historically, India was affectionately known as Sone Ki Chidiya—the Golden Bird—a land celebrated for its vast artistic depth, cultural abundance, and soaring creative power. By designating our festival as the Golden Bird Open, we pay direct homage to this legacy. We view the domestic Indian West Coast Swing community as an incredibly vibrant asset, primed and ready to break out onto the international circuit.
As a completely new event on the global map, we simply try harder. Previously celebrated as the India West Coast Swing Festival, this Second Season marks an intentional re-branding and a structural upgrade. We execute our curriculum through three fundamental pillars:

As part of the Golden Bird Open 2026, join Lourd Vijay, one of India's most experienced Swing & Latin dance instructors, for an exciting 4-hour Beginner's Jive Bootcamp designed especially for people with absolutely no dance experience.
Jive is energetic, playful, social and guaranteed to leave you smiling. Whether you've never danced a step in your life or have two left feet, this bootcamp will have you dancing confidently by the end of the evening.
The best part? After the bootcamp, you'll head straight into the Golden Bird Open Social Night, where you can dance with people from all over India in a fun, welcoming and beginner-friendly environment.
No partner required. We'll rotate partners throughout the session, so you'll meet new people, make friends and discover why social dancing is one of the happiest hobbies in the world.

Roughly 2 to 4+ years of WCS experience. For regular Novice finalists or current Intermediate competitors. No pros/advanced dancers.

A national-level Jack & Jill competition scored on authentic Social Jive (clean 4-count rhythm, connection, and improvisation; no ballroom triple-steps). Competitors enter individually as Leaders/Followers and are randomly paired with partners and music tracks in every round.
Focuses on basic 4-count timing, simple turns, and passes. Strictly no dips, drops, ducks, or intricate hand-changes. Slow/medium tempo tracks.
Focuses on smooth transitions and clear lead-follow communication. Max 1 controlled dip/duck per song. No advanced drops or body rolls. Medium/fast tracks.
Focuses on musical improvisation, speed agility, and high-energy performance. Safe dips, drops, and ducks are fully allowed. Aerials are strictly prohibited. Fast tracks.
